Exterior walls
Exterior wall insulation.
The best time to insulate your walls is when they are open. Renovation, addition or new construction: spray foam insulates and seals your walls in a single application, before the drywall goes up.
The problem
Walls that let air and cold through.
In a wall insulated with batts, cold air finds its way through joints and around windows, electrical outlets and studs. The result: drafts and rooms that are hard to heat.
Once the drywall is up, it is too late to do better without opening everything again. The decision is made during the work.
What spray foam changes
Insulate and seal in a single application.
Spray foam is applied between the studs, against the sheathing. It expands to fill every cavity, around wires, electrical boxes and window frames.
At equal thickness, it insulates almost twice as well as traditional batt insulation (about R-6 per inch), and it also stops air and moisture. Closed-cell spray foam adds rigidity to the walls. The thickness applied is specified in your written quote.
In a living space, spray foam must be covered with a thermal barrier, such as drywall, as required by the Building Code. Thermik tells you what is required for your project.
